Czesław Tumielewicz  - artysta malarz i grafik, ur. 20 listopada  1942 r. w Lidzie (obecna Białoruś). Od roku 1994 profesor Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Gdańsku. Uprawia grafikę, suchoryt, linoryt, monotypię oraz malarstwo.

 

Czesław Tumielewicz a painter and a graphic artist, since 1994 a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, born Nov.20th,1942 inLida. In May 1945 repatriated to a small village near Poznań. Since 1961 has been living in Gdańsk. Studied architecture, painting and graphic arts, has participated in over 300 exhibitions at home and abroad. In 1981 was a Kościuszko Foundation fellow in the USA.

Has been awarded numerous prizes for his paintings and graphic works -the first prize at the National Exhibition of Young Art in Sopot, 1974, the first prize in the Polish Painting Competition of Spychalski in Poznań, 1977, one of ten joint awards at the Polish Graphic Exhibition in Warsaw, 1973. He participated several times in the International Graphic Biennale in Cracow (1971,1984,1997,2000) , in Nationwide Graphic Art Exhibitions in Katowice (1997, 2000) in the Toruń Exhibitions of Colour in Graphic Arts (1982,1985,1988,1991,1993,1997), also in the Modern Painting Festivals in Szczecin (1972,1974,1978,1998,2000), The Still Life Reviews in Sieradz (1997,2000) also in The Triennale of Portrait and Selfportrait in Radom (1987,2000,2003). In 2007 he was awarded the first prize in the Contest for the Graphic Art of the Year, by the Gdańsk Society of Friends of Art .He is the winner of the first prize of the City of Gdańsk Award in the field of culture.
